John-Nam Vo, DC
A 2014 graduate of Life Chiropractic College West, Dr. John-Nam Vo’s passion for health and wellness started with the health of his grandmother, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and diabetes. His grandmother came from Vietnam to live with his family when he was a child. Throughout the years, he sadly witnessed the decline of her physical and mental health. Dr. Vo knew he wanted to help his grandmother live a healthier life and as a young teen, he set his focus on achieving that goal.
It was not until five years after an injury that Dr. Vo finally experienced chiropractic care for the first time. When he was 15 years old, Dr. Vo and his brother were practicing martial arts. Dr. Vo’s brother flipped him and he landed incorrectly on his tailbone, which resulted in excruciating pain in his lower back. This pain lasted off and on for many years. He was told by his family doctor after that incident that he was too young to have serious back issues and that he would outgrow the current condition. He was given pain medication to help in the meantime. The pain and numbness continued until Dr. Vo was 20 years old, and one day it left him frozen with the inability to walk. Frozen in place, Dr. Vo knew he needed to seek immediate care, for he feared that he may lose the ability to walk.
Dr. Vo sought care from a doctor of chiropractic who showed him on an x-ray that his pain was due to a misaligned sacrum, causing nerve impairment to his legs. After his first adjustment, he felt immediate relief and became at ease. He was able to run a few miles after his first adjustment pain-free. Dr. Vo became so inspired that knew he wanted to pursue an education in chiropractic, so that he could also make an impact on health and wellness within the community.
